The Red Elephant in the Room: UTIs

Our urinary tract is, beside the skin, one of the key waste removal systems in the body. It is composed of the kidneys, which filters out toxins from blood; and the ureters and urethra, which draws waste products from the body. So it comes with no surprise that, from time to time, junk will get stuck up our trunks!

A study done in 2013 mentions that 50 to 60 percent of women will get a urinary tract infection (UTI) in their lifetime. Out of these women, 25 percent of cases will be recurring...sometimes for a lifetime!

Symptoms will include
  • a painful sensation while urinating ( "I feel like I'm peeing a school bus!")
  • cannot urinate as much as wanted ( "I peed only this much?"
  • frequent need to urinate ( "Again? I've been here the whole day.")
Fortunately, there are several ways to cleanse the system without damaging the tract. In some cases, the methods even make the body inhospitable to further infection in the same area. Without further ado, let's delve right in.
